FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Pembina Trail RC&D Hosting Open HouseApril 16, 2009 The Pembina Trail Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) Council would like to invite the public to their office for an Open House event on Friday, April 24. The Resource Conservation & Development office is located in Red Lake Falls in the Minnesota Wheat Growers’ Building south of town Highway 32. The goal of the Open House is for the public to get to know more about the Resource Conservation and Development program and learn what the RC&D council can do for northwest Minnesota communities. The Open House will last from noon to 3:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served and council members will be available to visit with those that stop in. A rain barrel making demonstration will be presented at 1:00 p.m. The rain barrel will be given away at the end of the event as a door prize. The Pembina Trail RC&D Council is a 501(c)3 non profit entity that has been in existence since 1992. The council assists citizens in the seven counties of Kittson, Marshall, Norman, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake and Roseau with land conservation, land management, water management and community development projects. Each sponsoring partner county works through their commissioners and Soil and Water Conservation District board to appoint two volunteer members-at-large to serve on this regional council. The council meets bi-monthly and meetings are open to the public. The basic idea of the RC&D program is that local people know what is best for their communities, define their own goals and work with a broad range of public and private entities to achieve their objectives. People in the community make the choices for the community. Types of assistance available through the Pembina Trail Resource Conservation and Development council include: Technical Assistance, Planning Assistance, Information/Education Activities, Grant Writing Assistance, Organizational Support, Fiscal Agent Services or Other, dependent on local needs or opportunities.
